Pretty birthday gift

The other day we had a stamping luncheon here at my house for my friend Melissa’s birthday. She got some awesome gifts. This one was made by my friend Lorrie. It is a piece of framed art and is so gorgeous. This stamp set is called Soft Summer and is in the new Occasions mini which starts in 2 weeks! You better start saving up because this new mini catalog is AWESOME!!! The words are from a new set also called Oval All which matches our new scallop oval punch!!! Can you say Wooohooo Stampin UP!!! I love punches! This new one layers perfectly with our other large oval punch.

New Blog candy!

Hey everyone,

I have some new blog candy to give away! This is a cute card holder that my friend Lorrie made. The paper has retired though so I need to make room for current stuff. It is great to stick your cards in and also has 2 hooks on the bottom of it to hang things from. All you have to do to enter to win this is leave a comment on my blog! I will pick the winner on Friday.  Thanks for stopping by!

Break me off a piece of that Kit Kat bar….

This is a cute Kit Kat bar I am doing in my classes this month. I used the FREE Delicate  Dots Sale-abration paper and the FREE sale-abration Yummy set and the FREE sale-abration ribbon bundle. Cut the paper at 6×6 and wrap around your Kit Kat bar. Crimp both ends and then I used the eyelet border punch for the white pieces. The Yummy piece I stamped on bashful blue and then cut it out and used the slot punch to slide the ribbon through. These make super easy gift ideas.

Love the new Matchbox die!

I just looooove the new matchbox die from the Occasions mini! I think it is one of my favorite new toys. As demos, we get to preorder new minicatalog  products a month before our customers so we can play and create cool samples. That is one of the many perks of being a demonstrator. Plus, we get  an extra 20% discount (on top of our regular discount!)  on the stamp sets too. What a bargain!  I whipped this little box out in about 10 minutes using our FREE sale-abration paper and ribbon! There are only 2 weeks left to get these items for free so click on my "SHOP NOW" button  on my website here and get yours before it is too late. You can get 1 item for free with a $50 purchase. These matchboxes make adorable gifts. I saw a tip from another demo to take a sample box with you to Dollar Tree and see what will fit inside if you are making a bunch of these for an event. What a great idea!

Super easy card

If you ever need a card at the last minute, these Fresh cut notes are perfect. This card literally would take less than 5 minutes. I ran the white note card through the Big shot with the textured plate. It is a little hard to see in the picture. THen I cut a 4×4 piece of our FREE Sale-abration  paper bundle and glued that inside. I punched a 1/2 inch circle out of celery for the center, added a brad, and a piece of our FREE sale-abration ribbon bundle and there you go. Card in a flash and most of it was free!

Another quilt card idea

I absolutely love the quilt card technique that I am showing this month in my classes and when I saw one that my friend Tiffany Bauer had posted on the Stampin’ Up website, I just had to make it right away. I changed it a little bit from hers but the general idea is the same. I used the Parisian Breeze dsp which is my FAVORITE one out of all the DSP’s right now. I just love the colors. I am so going to miss this baja breeze color when it goes out in June. You just punch out 12 squares from the dsp using the 1 1/4 inch punch, glue them all side by side onto a 5 x 3 3/4 inch piece of whisper white cardstock and flip it over and run it through the big shot on the top note die. Super easy. The flower is from the Fifth Avenue Floral set and I stamped that in baja breeze on white, cut it out and outlined it in dazzling diamonds glitter. LOVE IT!!! The back baja breeze piece is textured with one of our textured dies also. Why don’t you try out this technique yourselves. It is so easy but makes a gorgeous card.

Paper saving template for matchbox die!

Hey everyone,
I just got my new matchbox die from the Occasions mini and went to use it like all the other XL ones and cut my 12×12 DSP in half and guess what? It was too short.  So, then I got my ruler out and measured and each piece needs to be approx. 5 1/2 by 6 1/2 and I was like "wow, that is a bummer for cutting". So, at first I cut the 12×12 at 6 1/2 and got 2 pieces out of that and then one more from the leftovers but I started thinking that I could somehow make it work to get 4 pieces out of 1 sheet and I did it! ( I used to be a math teacher).  I took the back piece from a pack of DSP  to make my template. I used my ruler to draw a pencil line 5 1/2 inches in from each side and you should end up with a square in the center. Using your ruler as a guide, cut the square out of the center with the craft knife. Then this is your template from now on. Each time you want to cut a piece, simply put it on top of your 12×12 paper and trace the inside of your square, Now lay the paper on your cutter and cut to the bottom left edge of each side of your square. I practiced on a piece of cardstock to see how easy it was and it literally took me about 1 minute from start to finish. Once you get the hang of it, it is super easy and will save you a bunch of paper if you are doing it for a class. Your pieces do not have to be perfect either because you have a little room around the edge of each die to work with. I hope this makes sense. Here are the pictures of the template and the finished cut one ( I practiced on scrap paper that I wasn’t going to use before I tried it on the good stuff!)…..

In case these directions have you totally confused, my friend Patty Bennett made a step by step video that shows exactly how I did it, so go check it out here …..

And here is the finished product with the Parisian Breeze paper and some Ghirardelli chocolates inside…..yum.

DCBD challenge #118

Hey everyone,

It is Wednesday and time for another Diva’s Coffee Break Design challenge. Our challenge this week was to make something using the Big Shot. I have a million ideas for that so it was hard to narrow it down to just one.

I have been playing around with the quilt card technique ever since my upline Melissa Ellis showed it to me the other day . I just love how cool this looks.

For this one, I textured the bashful blue piece with the little dot background and then punched out 12 squares with the 1 1/4 inch punch. Then mount those onto a 5 x 3 3/4 sheet of white cardstock. Flip it over and run it through the big shot with the top note die underneath and there you have it. Wrap the finished piece in our yummy organza ribbon and you are all set. The B (for baby) is from the Lovely Letter alphabet. This would make a perfect baby announcement card. All of my club members will get to make this card in class this month.  Don’t forget to check out all the other diva’s designs at http://www.divacoffeebreakdesigns.blogspot.com/

Cute new Big Shot box

I just got my new Big Shot box #2 die and was playing around with it this weekend. I think this box would be perfect for wedding favors. I wheeled the box with the new Friendly Words wheel found on pg 81 in the Stampin up catalog. Then I stamped the hearts with the set Polka Dot Punches (that I got  for FREE in the Sale-a-bration catalog) . I used not quite navy for this project but it came out looking more like a deeper blue. The ribbon on top is the luscious new organza/satin ribbon. I wish I had pajamas in this material. It feels so silky.
