DCBD challenge #14

Hey everyone,

It is Wednesday and that means it is time for another Diva’s Coffee Break Design Challenge! This week’s challenge is a color one. We had to design a card using the 4 colors listed here. Most of you know these color challenges really force me out of my comfort zone. I always seem to use the same colors for everything.  So, I hope you like what I came up with…..

I am kind of bummed because I used the new textured plate on the kraft piece  but it didn’t really show up in the picture. THe back piece is the kraft, the eyelet border piece is the pink pirouette and the flowers are done in artichoke and almost amethyst (I used the markers for that). The stamps on this card are from the Thoughts and Prayers set which is one of my new favorites. If you like the card, please leave me a comment. Don’t forget to check out the other diva designers listed in my sidebar under the coffeecups.THanks for stopping by.

DCBD challenge #13

This week was a design challenge…. I like those much better than the color challenges so hopefully you will like what I came up with.

Here is our challenge sketch…..

and here is what I came up with….

For this week’s challenge, I decided to use a set I just got a couple of days ago. It is one of my new favorite sets! It is called Friends 24-7. I used the new circle cutter (and thanks to whoever suggested putting the rubber feet on it…it works like a charm now). I stamped everything in chocolate chip and I used the new Bella Bleu DSP paper. Isn’t it gorgeous? Anything in our catalog that has the word Bella in it is automatically on my wish list. I also used our new eyelet border punch.  I hope you like it as much as I do. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think! Also, don’t forget to check out all of the other diva’s designs by clicking on their names under the coffee cups in my sidebar. Thanks for stopping by.

Looking for a few good demos….

Hey stampers,

If you would like to be a part of our weekly diva design team, click here for the instructions and see how you can join us. It is a lot of fun doing the weekly challenges and it forces you to go outside your comfort zone of usually colors and styles. Hope you will be part of our team!

DCBD challenge #12

It is Wednesday and that means it is time for the Diva Coffee Break Design Challenge….here was the challenge we were given….

and here is what I did…..

I ended up not using  the baja breeze. I kept trying to work it in there but it was clashing with the bashful blue. These are not my normal color choices so it was hard to envision what to do with them. I am more of a shabby chic kind of girl so I like the pink and brown combos best.  For this card I used the set Flores Suaves from the Spanish catalog….isn’t it a GORGEOUS set?? I love it. I used the polished stone technique on this one with bashful blue, lovely lilac and pink passion refills. I also added a little dot of silver in there but it is hard to see in the picture.  Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think (only if you like it..LOL!) DCBD challenge #10

I am sorry for missing last week’s challenge. I totally forgot to do it before I left for  Leadership. I hope this one makes up for it. This week’s challenge is a color one. We had to use these colors to make our project……

and here is what I came up with.

This is a project I am doing in all of my club’s this month.

This is the front view

and this is the side view….. my awesome friend Kimberly Van Diepen created the original design and gave me one as a gift at Leadership. I just loved it, but I wanted to change it just a little bit. Hers was a flat card design and I wanted mine to be more like a heart box of candy that you might receive for Valentine’s so I could fit more in it (I filled it with ghirardelli chocolates). To make it more 3 dimensional, I folded the side pieces in half to score them and glued the front piece to the back piece so that the side flaps actually wrap around the back a little bit.  It has 4 "humps" but you fold in 2 of them to create the bottom part of your box.   THen I stuck the brads in with the ribbon to make a handle. I used all of the colors in thechallenge…the ribbon is the vanilla color. This is made from the Big Shot petal card die.Don’t forget to check out the rest of the diva designers listed under the coffee cups in my sidebar. THanks for looking and please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

DCBD challenge #8

 Hey everyone,

For this week’s challenge, we didn’t have a sketch or anything….we just had to create a New Year’s card….my interpretation of that is a New Stampin’ Up Year’s card with a stamp set out of the NEW catalog! This stamp set is one that we received at Founder’s Circle a couple of months ago and I have been dying to use it so I got it out this week and played around with it. I am doing another card with it for a swap so I can’t show you that one (yet). The set is called Simple Friendship and I LOVE IT! It comes with the butterfly, the circle stamp, the true friend and some flowery stamps too. I had a ton of Urban Garden DSP so I thought I would use some of that up (just in case it retires next week). I wish they would tell us which papers were going before I made all of my Leadership swaps (this is one of them). The circle punch is our 1 3/4 inch one and I used the scallops from the pennant die to fit around it. I used baja breeze, kiwi kiss and not quite navy for the colors. I hope you like it. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Also, check out the other Divas listed under the coffee cups in my sidebar. Thanks for looking!

DCBD challenge #7

Hey stampers,

It is time for this week’s Diva Coffee Break Design Challenge…..here is the sketch I had to use…..and it had to be a Christmas card since it is Christmas Eve…..

Here is what I came up with…..

This photo really doesn’t do the card justice. I took the picture 8 times but I couldn’t get the flowers on the brads or the glitter on the trees to show up well. I used the vanilla hodgepodge hardware kit for the brads and pushed them through the kraft taffeta ribbon. I stamped the trees twice on vanilla and then sprinkled with dazzling diamonds. This is a super easy card but looks really pretty close up. I hope you like it. Why don’t you try the challenge and see what you can come up with? Don’t forget to check out the other Coffee Break Divas listed under the coffee cups in my sidebar. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Thanks!

DCBD challenge #6

This week’s Diva Coffee Break Design challenge (it should say #106 in the photo) was to use these colors to make any card we wanted. I always have a hard time with the colors so I started looking through our Designer Paper and found the Holiday Treasure paper polka dot piece that matched perfectly. It says in the catalog that it is Baja, Chocolate chip, Ruby red and Old Olive but I held the old olive and kiwi next to it and it looked closer to kiwi to me. The ruby red and red riding hood are almost the same too so here is the card I came up with……

I used the Always set and the Holiday Treasures DSP plus chocolate chip, baja breeze and riding hood red cardstock. For the ink, I used Baja, chocolate chip and kiwi and then accented with the riding hood taffeta and the baja breeze ribbon. Super easy card! I hope you like it. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think. Then give this challenge a try yourself. Don’t forget to check out the other Diva Designers listed under the coffee cups in my sidebar.

DCBD challenge #5

For this week’s Diva’s Coffee Break Design challenge, we had to make a card with this design. The smiley face threw me off at first because I was like "what is that for?" but it just means an image goes there.  I enjoy the design challenges much more than the color challenges. They take me about 10 minutes. The color challenges take me all day. So, here is what I came up with for this week………

I decided to do a semi Christmas card (because of the colors)  but it can also be used anytime. I used Riding Hood Red, Old Olive and the Bella Rose DSP. I stamped the background with the Bella Toile stamp and used the Bella’s Bloom for the flower. The saying is from one of the hostess sets…. I think it is called Best Yet. Super quick and easy card. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Make sure you check out all of the other Divas in the group…..click on each one listed under the coffee cups in my sidebar.
