Pleated card tutorial

By Lisa Freeman | February 20, 2009

I have had several people email me about the pleated card that was made by one of my downline (Pam Browne). So, I called her and got the directions and tried it out myself and thought I would just go ahead and take pictures as I went so you could see how easy it is to do. Here is the original card that she made….

and here is what I did….Step one…start with a 12×2 inch piece of DSP.

Score it at 1, 1 1/2, 2 1/2, 3, 4, 4 1/2, 5 1/2, 6, 7, 7 1/2, 8 1/2, 9, 10, 10 1/2.

So, you are scoring every inch, then half inch, then inch, then half inch, etc

The first piece on here is my practice one in case I messed up! You can do a bunch of these at once by taking your whole 12×12 sheet and scoring it and then go back and cut it later.

Here is a close up of the scoring lines….

Step 2…..start folding from the right end so that the large piece is on top and makes a mountain, then the short pieces make the valleys…just keep on going……

.

and it will look like this…..then put your snail on all of the short pieces and press down.

The finished pleated piece will look like this:

then you can use it on your card and tie your ribbon around the right side.

This card is so beautiful, I have have seen it up close and personal. Pam makes me glad I have her as my ??? SU consultant, coach, inspiration. She has really motivated me into making cards, and one day when I grow up I want to be just like her. Well maybe a downline. Love you Pam. Thanks Lisa for getting Pam inspired in Stampin Up. You are a couple of great ladies.

I like the tutorial! Very easy to follow. I noted that you marked all of your hash marks on the scor-pal. I always mess up when doing mass projects so I’ve decided to mark my scor-pal as you did! Duh – why didn’t I think of that?? lol

This is so do-able and a nice change of pace. You did a super job with the tutorial. Is the Score-pal a Stampin’ Up accessory?

I just made one using the tutorial. Great instructions as always. This is such a cool card. Where can I get a Score Pal? I did it the old fashioned way!
